Home Inspection

Household Dangers Most Homeowners Don’t Know About

To the untrained eye, your dream home may look safe. However, appearances do not always match reality. Don’t take a risk with the health and safety of your family. Instead, arm yourself with knowledge about the condition of your home with a comprehensive home inspection from CalPro Inspection Group.

Why Is a Home Inspection So Important?

All too often, homebuyers get caught up in the floor plan, number of bathrooms, etc., and forget to look into the integrity of the home. This is why a home inspection is so important! Our inspectors go beyond superficial appearances to determine the structural integrity and safety of the home.

Hidden Dangers

Some of the most common hidden hazards our inspectors find include:

  • Furnace Issues: Routine maintenance is critical to safely heating your home. Like many maintenance items, though, it is easy to neglect the furnace until a problem arises. Something as simple as a clogged air filter can become a fire hazard! Likewise, gas furnaces run the risk of releasing carbon monoxide into the home if they're not functioning properly.
  • Clogged Dryer Vents: In addition to cleaning the dryer vent with each use, homeowners should routinely clean the ductwork and outdoor vent. Failure to do so causes lint to accumulate in the ductwork and obstruct the flow of air.  As a result, thousands of dryers catch fire each year, resulting in hundreds of injuries and millions of dollars worth of damages.
  • Dirty Range Hood Vents: Accumulated grease is highly flammable and can result in dangerous grease fires. Many kitchen fires have been traced back to an accumulation of grease buildup on the range vent and ductwork.
  • Clogged Condensate Lines: Clogged condensate lines are common and place strain on the HVAC system. Additionally, clogged condensate lines cause moisture to accumulate and overflow onto the walls and floor of the home. If not dealt with swiftly, a simple clog could lead to extensive water damage and mold growth.
